Healthy Schools

Since May of 2018, VietLead has been working with student leaders, parents, and teachers around the toxic school conditions that students all over the city are facing through our Campaign for Healthy Schools. In this campaign, students will work together to help think through our campaign to prepare and plan for the school year. Specifically, students will be supporting with 1) collecting more stories and ideas from their schools around these issues through one-on-ones and student meetings; 2) refining a vision for healthy schools and communities based on the meetings; and 3) building up a base of people specifically in their schools who want to be involved in the fight through targeted canvassing/door knocking, phone banking, and meetings. Given the state of the pandemic and its impact on our schools, along with imminent threat of school closures from the School Board, we will continue engaging our students in the fight, in collaboration with the Our City Our Schools coalition, of which VietLead is a member organization.
